My confidence has been shaken. In this space, I'm insanely critical of my team I'm the first to judge them on a bad night. Heck, I'm the first to judge them on a good night.I'm critical of them before the game, during the game, and after the game. But deep down inside, I'm filled with a slight tinge of positivity. On the outside, I'm disappointed, perplexed, and distraught at this ugly season the Ducks have produced thus far.On the inside, I'm eternally hopeful. I'm blind to the ugly numbers, the disturbing trends, the injuries, the rumors, and their name resting at the bottom of the standings.I can't help it. There is too much of this team in my heart that says they will find a way to pull through. The recipe on paper still looks too good to taste this bad.The timer hasn't gone off yet.So I hold onto that little bit of positivity.Lately, tiny pieces of hope flourish during the simple moments within the game.A glove save A blocked shot.
A rush up the ice.A simple clean pass is enough to make my heart race (this pounding is different from the nerve-wracking anxiety that races through my body when the Ducks are on a penalty kill and lately, when they are on the power play). However, as the season progresses, I'm having a hard time keeping my silent positivity intact.I have to search for small reminders that this is really happening to the team I love so dearly.I have to force myself not to cringe when I hear analysts mention "Chris Pronger" and "Norris Trophy" in the same breath.I have to search for Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf's names amongst the scoring leaders to remind myself that the talent exists.I have to check the Conference standings occasionally to make sure they haven't been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.I have to tell myself there is still time to see them turn things around. But there is one thing I never have to remind myself of...I love hockey.I love the sport, I love the action, and I love interacting with other fans who enjoy the sport for the millions of little reasons that I do.Above all, I love my team It doesn't matter if they make the playoffs this year. It doesn't matter if they finish above .500, and it doesn't matter if they finish at the bottom of the Western Conference. That little bit of positivity that remains in my bones won't allow me to believe this season will end that way.As fans, we have to remember that sometimes with the good, comes the bad This won’t last forever The players wont allow it. There are too many guys on this team who have tasted success. Too many players who have seen the bottom, and found their way to the top.So yea, this team is struggling. They're having difficulties in putting the ingredients together, but it will happen. The clock may be ticking, but the timer hasn't gone off yet.GO DUCKS!!! . Who were the MVPs for the weekWho was the loser of the week Is it possible that the best game of the week could involve the Detroit Lions and Cleveland BrownsWhat are some of the poor coaching decisions and the injuries that will affect Week 12 MVPs of the Week: Sure, it was against the Cleveland Browns, but Detroit Lions rookie QB Matthew Stafford, who had been struggling in recent weeks, entered the game with just six touchdowns and 12 interceptions on the season and the Browns were just what the doctor ordered. He had 26 completions in 43 attempts for 422 yards, five touchdowns, two picks and a QB rating of 112.7. The Lions overcame a 24-3 deficit in the first quarter to win 38-37...Full article >>>. The 2009 season has just ended as most fans thought it would: Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe's sponsored Chevrolet, making history by winning his fourth championship in a row.Never in the history of the sport has a driver been so unwelcome and scrutinized for winning a championship while, at the same time, putting his name in the NASCAR history books.Johnson, who put his name next to a 30-year-old record just last season by winning his third championship in a row, was able to rewrite that same record on Sunday when he finished fifth to capture the 2009 Sprint Cup Championship, making it four in a row and making him the sole owner of the record. But this season, as well as the chase, was different than in years past, and it was easy to realize by all the negative comments the team was receiving from fans on various NASCAR social sites.Johnson was able to bring the NASCAR boards to a standstill with all the talk surrounding how he single-handedly made the Chase one the most uninteresting events the sport has ever witnessed. The accomplishment will probably never be duplicated, but that didnt matter to the thousands of fans who expressed their disgust with NASCAR for allowing the team to push the limits of the rulebook. When NASCAR confiscated Johnsons car after winning at Dover, along with his teammate Mark Martins who finished second, officials found the vehicles to be pushing the limits and warned the teams about being to close to the allowable tolerances. The news sent a wave of uncertainty with many saying that somehow Chad Knaus, Johnsons crew chief, had found a way to manipulate the rulebook just as he had done in previous seasons. In their own defense, NASCAR once again confiscated the same two cars following the race at Kansas a week later, hoping to put to rest the accusations that took place just a week earlier. In other sports where performance-enhancing drugs are always the culprits, NASCAR has to deal with the manipulation of one of the thousands of parts that go into building these high-speed athletes on wheels. An athlete doesnt become Superman overnight when they begin to take these supplements, but there is a process that takes place in order for them to become fully affective.Weightlifting, along with a stringent conditioning regime is the only way to get the drugs' full effect. There are also ways that these supplements can be masked, just like there are ways of masking one of the many thousands of parts it takes to build a Cup car.If you have ever watched a Cup car go through tech, there is no way they can check every part and there is a really good possibility that something can be missed. As much time as Knaus spends around the car, there is a really good possibility that he has found something that could be within, or outside, the rules to help enhance the car's performance and, with time, has found a way to use it to his ownadvantage. Either way, Johnson still needs to perform and his accomplishments have been proof that he has the driving skills to win championships. There are no guarantees, even if an enhancer is used, that luck or driver error couldn't easily ruin a good day at the track. So until NASCAR can prove that Johnsons cars were illegallyaltered (and it's too late now because the season is over), there will be those who choose to put an asterisk next to his four championships, and the record as well.. I don't know about you but,.. I'm still not impressed with this win. they're NOBODY!! and you know what they've done in this league.... NOTHING!! That's what they've done! The Bengals greatest claim to fame is having an RB with a cool dance and losing the Chip to the 49ers. WHOA!!! I'm scared of the Bengals (LOL!!!).No RAIDER NATION, what we did to The Bengals is what The Raiders should do to 99 of the teams in this league, "Just Beat Em' Baby!" Someone asked me (probably a family member or friend of JaMarcus) if I watched any other position but QB Did I notice how bad The Raiders Offensive Line played Did I notice the dropped passes; See how the Defense played against the run..., blah, blah, blah!!! Well, to all of you who question why I talk QB first we got a glimpse of it in this game.Forget about the stats - as I've grown fond of writing: RAIDER FANS DON'T NEED STATS!! - I could care less about BG's numbers the simple fact is this: The TEAM knew they had someone they could (and had to) rally behind.
